Samsung India profit declines 36% in FY26 as mobile phone revenue slips

Samsung India Electronics reported a 36 per cent decline in consolidated profit to Rs 7,228.10 crore for the financial year ended March 31, 2026, even as its revenue from operations increased marginally by 1.2 per cent to Rs 1.11 lakh crore, according to regulatory filings.
The company’s profit stood at Rs 11,287.50 crore in FY25, while revenue from operations was Rs 1,11,183.40 crore. Total income, including other income, rose to Rs 1,14,738.60 crore in FY26.
Mobile phones and accessories remained Samsung India’s largest revenue contributor. Revenue from its hand-held phone (HHP) business declined 1.35 per cent to Rs 81,472.20 crore from Rs 82,595 crore in FY25.
The company’s home appliances business, covering refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners and microwave ovens, grew 3.52 per cent to Rs 12,240.60 crore. Revenue from its audio-visual segment, which includes televisions and soundbars, increased 8.5 per cent to Rs 8,055.90 crore.
Samsung also reported a 6.85 per cent increase in revenue from its Software Development and Export business to Rs 2,430.10 crore.
India remains an important market and manufacturing base for Samsung, with the company also operating research and development centres in Bengaluru, Noida and the Delhi-NCR region. Domestic revenue increased 9.34 per cent to Rs 65,873.30 crore in FY26, while export revenue declined 5.64 per cent to Rs 41,068.60 crore.
Total expenses rose 3.54 per cent to around Rs 1.04 lakh crore. Advertising and promotional expenditure fell 11.9 per cent to Rs 3,850.50 crore.
Meanwhile, the royalty paid to Samsung’s South Korean parent increased 7.2 per cent to Rs 3,474 crore from Rs 3,240.50 crore in FY25. The payment is linked to technology, technical know-how and manufacturing assistance provided by the parent company.
Samsung competes across India’s smartphone and consumer electronics markets, with rivals including Apple in the premium smartphone segment and several Chinese brands in the broader smartphone market. In consumer durables, it competes with companies such as LG, Whirlpool, Haier and Voltas.
