Rohit Sharma recieves Padma Shri by President Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan ceremony

Cricketer Rohit Sharma was among the distinguished personalities honoured as President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Padma Awards during a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday.
The second Civil Investiture Ceremony for 2026 saw the President presenting Padma awards to 65 recipients, recognising excellence across fields such as sports, arts, literature, public affairs and social service.
Rohit Sharma, one of India’s leading cricketers and former national team captain, was awarded the Padma Shri for his contribution to Indian cricket. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other senior dignitaries.
The awards list also included prominent names such as singer Alka Yagnik, actor Mammootty and tennis legend Vijay Amritraj, highlighting achievements across diverse domains.
Officials said the Padma Awards 2026 were announced earlier on Republic Day eve and are being presented in phases through civil investiture ceremonies at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The Padma Awards, one of India’s highest civilian honours, are given in three categories — Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri — recognising exceptional and distinguished service in various fields.
