Ram Temple Donation Case: Accused's wife gets extension over un-authorized construction

The Ayodhya Development Authority (ADA) has given Supriya Mishra, the wife of the Ram temple donation case accused Lavkush Mishra, an additional week to submit the documents for her under-construction house in Ayodhya's Saadatganj area, police said on Thursday, July 30.

ADA Secretary Rajesh Mishra told PTI that Supriya had until July 29 to provide documentation proving the house's legality, however, she asked for an extension on Thursday, July 30, to gather the necessary papers.

The ADA had issued Supriya a notice on July 2 over the alleged unauthorized construction of the house registered in her name.

According to ADA sources, the house is being built in Banvirpur village in Sohawal tehsil. The land was purchased in Supriya's name, but construction began without the required approval from the development authority, as reported by PTI.

The Ram temple donation embezzlement case came to light in early June. After which the Uttar Pradesh government formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on June 13 to investigate the allegations, initially giving it 15 days to complete the probe.

After the SIT submitted its preliminary report on June 23, an FIR was registered on June 25, leading to the arrest of eight accused: Avinash Shukla, Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Manish Kumar Yadav, Karunesh Pandey, Ramashankar Mishra, Subhash Srivastava and Ramashankar Yadav, alias Tinnu Yadav, respectively.

The case is currently being heard before the Supreme Court, which has directed the formation of a new SIT to continue the investigation.
