Putin to Attend BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12–13, Confirms Kremlin Aide

Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to attend the BRICS summit in New Delhi on September 12–13, according to a Kremlin aide, marking a major diplomatic event for India as it hosts the grouping this year.

Kremlin official Yury Ushakov confirmed that President Putin will participate in the annual summit, which will bring together leaders of major emerging economies under India’s BRICS chairmanship.

A bilateral meeting between Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping is also expected to take place on the sidelines of the summit, highlighting the significance of high-level engagements during the event.

India is hosting the BRICS summit in 2026 after taking over the chairmanship, with the bloc now expanded to include several new members, making it one of the largest platforms of emerging economies globally.

The summit is expected to focus on trade, geopolitical cooperation, and strengthening economic ties among member nations amid ongoing global uncertainties.
