Pune “Godman” built 15-year web of control using CCTV, escape tunnel and fake Gurukul

A self-styled godman in Pune, along with his associates, has been arrested for allegedly subjecting a woman to nearly 15 years of sexual abuse, physical torture and psychological manipulation under the guise of spiritual guidance, police said.
According to reports, the accused created a highly controlled environment described as a “modern gurukul,” where the victim was allegedly isolated and monitored continuously using CCTV cameras installed across the premises. Police also found that the setup allegedly included an escape tunnel and strict surveillance systems designed to restrict the woman’s movement and freedom.
Investigators said the accused used claims of divine powers and spiritual healing to gain and maintain control over the victim, allegedly exploiting her over a prolonged period. The woman was reportedly subjected to repeated abuse and intimidation while being cut off from normal social contact.
Police officials revealed that seven associates of the godman have also been arrested in connection with the case. The investigation suggests that a structured system of psychological control and coercion was maintained to ensure the victim’s compliance over the years.
Authorities are now probing the full extent of the alleged abuse, including financial exploitation and whether more victims were similarly trapped under the same network. Further investigation is underway.
