Police file 973-page chargesheet in UPSC aspirant rape-murder case

Nearly three months after a 24-year-old UPSC aspirant was allegedly raped, murdered and robbed at her East of Kailash residence, the Delhi Police has filed a 973-page chargesheet against the accused, stating that scientific and forensic evidence has established a complete chain of evidence in the case.

The chargesheet was filed before a Delhi court on July 16, with the matter scheduled for a hearing on July 18. According to police, the case pertains to the April 22 incident at Kailash Hills under the Amar Colony police station limits, where the woman was found dead after allegedly being sexually assaulted. Police said valuables were also stolen from the house.

Investigators identified the accused, Rahul Kumar Meena, 23, through CCTV footage analysis and arrested him the same day after sustained efforts by multiple police teams.

The allegedly stolen property was also recovered from his possession.

According to the police, more than 100 CCTV cameras were scanned to trace the accused’s movements before and after the crime.

The investigation also involved extensive field enquiries, with officers examining neighbours, security guards, domestic workers, labourers, drivers, sweepers and other people in the area. Teams were simultaneously dispatched to Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and different parts of Delhi to gather evidence and verify leads.
