Police constable poses as customer to bust sex racket in Paharganj

A constable from Delhi Police’s Central District walked into a spa on DBG Road in Paharganj on Saturday evening, posing as an ordinary customer. He paid Rs 1,800 in pre-recorded currency notes to the operator, was introduced to one of the women working there for services, and then gave a signal that brought his waiting team crashing through the door. Within minutes, an organised prostitution racket that had been running under the cover of a salon and spa was exposed, one man was arrested, and five women were rescued from the premises.

DCP Central District Rohit Rajbir Singh confirmed the operation followed specific intelligence received a day earlier. “Secret information was received regarding immoral trafficking activities being carried out under the guise of a spa in Paharganj. A decoy customer operation was planned and executed to verify the allegations and take legal action,” Singh said.

The information that reached Paharganj police station on June 13 indicated that customers visiting the spa were being lured and offered services in exchange for money, with the spa functioning as a front for the actual business being conducted on the premises.

A dedicated raiding team was constituted, and a constable dressed in plain clothes was briefed and sent in as the decoy customer. Inside, the constable made contact with the spa staff and was offered services in exchange for payment. He handed over the pre-recorded currency notes amounting to Rs 1,800 to the spa operator and was introduced to one of the women present for the provision of services. At that point, Lalit gave the predetermined signal to the team waiting outside.

The raiding team entered the premises immediately. The raid confirmed the illegal activities being carried out from the spa, and evidence was seized on the spot. A case was registered under Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act as FIR No. 274/2026 at the Paharganj police station.

The man arrested has been identified as Saved Ali alias Shabir, 29, a resident of Rampur in Uttar Pradesh, who was operating and managing the salon and spa. He has no previous criminal record. During questioning, it was established that he was the one managing and facilitating the activities on the premises, coordinating between customers and the women working there.

Five women, aged between 20 and 40 years, were found present at the spa and have been rescued. Police recovered Rs 4,200 in cash, including the Rs 1,800 in pre-recorded decoy money used in the operation, along with a customer entry register and other material indicating an organised commercial operation rather than an isolated incident.
