PM Modi UAE Visit Secures Major Energy and Defence Deals

Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his six-day, five-nation diplomatic tour with a visit to the United Arab Emirates, where discussions focused on energy security, defence cooperation and regional stability amid the ongoing West Asia conflict.
During his visit to Abu Dhabi, PM Modi held delegation-level talks with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and thanked him for the warm welcome extended to the Indian delegation.
“I have come to my second home. This sentiment is a huge capital of my life,” PM Modi said, while also appreciating the ceremonial escort provided by UAE Air Force F16 fighter jets as his aircraft entered Emirati airspace.
The two countries exchanged multiple agreements and memorandums of understanding aimed at strengthening the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Key Agreements Signed During PM Modi’s UAE Visit:
- Framework agreement on Strategic Defence Partnership
- MoU on Strategic Petroleum Reserves
- Agreement on Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) supplies
- MoU for setting up a Ship Repair Cluster at Vadinar
- Investment announcements worth 5 billion US dollars in Indian infrastructure, RBL Bank and Samman Capital
Addressing the ongoing regional tensions, PM Modi strongly condemned attacks targeting the UAE during the conflict in West Asia.
“We strongly condemn the attacks on the UAE and denounce the way the UAE has been targeted. This is unacceptable in any form,” he said.
The Prime Minister also praised the UAE leadership for maintaining national unity, security and territorial integrity during challenging circumstances.
Energy security remained a key focus of the visit as India continues to monitor disruptions in global oil supplies and shipping routes linked to the conflict in the Gulf region.
Following the UAE leg, PM Modi will visit the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy as part of his five-nation tour aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and strategic partnerships.
