PM Modi, TN Governor and CM Vijay pay tribute to K. Kamaraj on 124th birth anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi Arlekar, Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, and leaders across the political spectrum paid tribute to former Chief Minister and freedom fighter K. Kamaraj on his 124th birth anniversary.

Remembering his contribution to nation-building, PM Modi described Kamaraj as an exceptional public leader whose commitment to education, inclusive development, and the welfare of the underprivileged continues to inspire generations.

Chief Minister Vijay honoured Kamaraj by garlanding his statue in Chennai alongside cabinet ministers. He praised Kamaraj's efforts in expanding access to education by opening schools across Tamil Nadu and introducing the pioneering midday meal scheme, which encouraged children from economically weaker sections to attend school. Vijay also highlighted Kamaraj's role in promoting agriculture, building reservoirs, and driving industrial development in the state.

Several other leaders, including Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin, AIADMK chief Edappadi K. Palaniswami, Tamil Maanila Congress president G.K. Vasan, and BJP leader K. Annamalai, also remembered Kamaraj's legacy.


To mark the occasion, the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee has organised a week-long programme celebrating his contributions while launching an anti-corruption public awareness campaign.
