PM Modi Holds Roadshow In Somnath Ahead Of Somnath Amrut Mahotsav

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held a roadshow in Gujarat’s Somnath ahead of participating in the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav celebrations marking 75 years of the inauguration of the restored Somnath temple.

Large crowds gathered along the nearly 1.5-kilometre route from the helipad to Veer Hamirji Circle near the famous Somnath Temple to welcome the Prime Minister. People waved flags and raised slogans as his convoy passed through the area.

Artists from various parts of the country, including West Bengal, performed traditional cultural dances during the roadshow celebrations.

PM Modi had arrived in Jamnagar on Sunday night as part of his two-day Gujarat visit before travelling to Somnath on Monday morning.

The Somnath temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and is regarded as an important symbol of India’s spiritual and civilisational heritage.

The Somnath Amrut Mahotsav is being organised to commemorate 75 years since the inauguration of the restored temple by India’s first President Rajendra Prasad in 1951.

During the visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to perform religious rituals including Abhishek, Dhwaj Pooja and Maha Pooja at the temple. Flower petals are also expected to be showered on the shrine from helicopters as part of the celebrations.

Later in the day, PM Modi will address a public gathering at Sadbhavana Ground in Somnath.
