Outstation teams shine at Patna Mind Fest

The team called ‘Happy Eid’, comprising Calvin, Gokul, and Ankur, on Wednesday won the General Quiz contest on the opening day of the two-day Patna Mind Fest (PMF). ‘Patna Ke Presleys’, comprising SanabwayBaherjee, Shashank Tygai, and Jayakanthan R, won the 1st Runner-up position.

‘Endu Cutlets’, the team from Mumbai comprising Rajiv Rai, Vibhendu Tiwari, and Brajendu Bhaskar, earned the 2nd Runner-up spot.

Earlier, the India Quiz saw ‘Endu Cutlets’ clinching the 1st position. The 1stRunner-up position went to ‘Patna Ke Presleys’ and the 2nd Runner-up position to Saswata, Nikhil, and Arunodoy, who called their team ‘Smells Like Team Spirit’. The contestants had the option to decide names for their teams.  

More than 90 teams first sat through a written Preliminary Rounds for both the contests after which the top eight teams qualified for the onstage finals in each of them. Among the finalists were two school teams from Patna, one each from Don Bosco Academy and St Karen’s High School.

Another event of the day was Creative Writing in Hindi and English, which saw more than 300 participants from all walks of life, but mostly schoolchildren, showcasing their writing skills. The results will be announced tomorrow.

Earlier in the day, the event was inaugurated by Anjani Kumar Singh, Director-General, Bihar Museum. Also present on the dais were Vivek Kumar Singh, Chairman, RERA Bihar; Ms Rachana Patil, IAS, Secretary, Department of Finance, Bihar; Sanjay Kumar, IAS, Additional Secretary, Governor Secretariat; Abhay Jha, IAS, Additional Secretary, Rural Works Department; and Prof Rana Singh, Director, CIMP.

The 8th edition of the PMF is being held at the Chandragupta Institute of Management, Patna. An annual event organized by the Bihar IAS Officers’ Association and Extra-C, a civil society initiative, its objective is to showcase the rich legacy of learning of Bihar. The event sees participants from all walks of life competing across five events — India Quiz, General Quiz, Creative Writing (English, Hindi), Crosswords, and Word Bee.

The concluding day of the Fest will see Cryptic Crosswords and Word Bee competitions. These will be followed by a prize distribution ceremony.
