One dead, three injured as violence erupts in Uttarakhand Village over water dispute

A dispute over water supply turned deadly in a village in Uttarakhand's Dehradun district, leading to violent clashes between two communities that left one person dead and three others seriously injured.
The incident occurred in the Bairagiwala area under the Sahaspur police station limits and quickly escalated into a major law-and-order situation.
According to police officials, an argument over water distribution allegedly turned violent, with members of one group reportedly attacking others using sharp-edged weapons and hammers.
Four people sustained critical injuries during the clash, and one of the victims later succumbed to injuries.
As tensions intensified, angry crowds gathered in the area, leading to stone-pelting and arson. Several houses were damaged, and at least one house was set on fire during the violence.
Authorities have registered a case against three named accused and several unidentified individuals. A manhunt has also been launched to arrest those involved.
To prevent further unrest, heavy police deployment has been made in the village, and senior officials are closely monitoring the situation.
The administration has assured strict action against those responsible as investigations continue.
