NTA steps up NEET outreach

From advising aspirants to keep themselves hydrated in the peak of summer to stay calm by giving tips to de-stress and nonetheless, by giving a cue on anticipated questions with solutions, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is making every efforts to reach out to the NEET (UG) 2026 medical entrance aspirants through social media platforms like YouTube, Instagram and X.

“Dear NEET Aspirants, your mental health and well-being are our top priority. No examination is more important than your life. If you are feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed, please reach out immediately to these official helplines: Tele-MANAS (24×7 National Mental Health Helpline) 14416 or 1-800-891-4416 (Free, confidential counselling in multiple languages) You are not alone. Help is available. Talk to someone today. Take care of yourself. We believe in you,” NTA said on one of its social media post.

The NTA which conducts one of the largest entrance examinations globally, NEET (UG), has taken a series of proactive measures to ensure information flow and effective resolution of candidate queries.

With every year’s entrance of NEET (UG) mired in controversies with raging debates across and throughout the year, including litigations, this time NTA has taken active outreach across social media platforms with real-time engagement and response to candidates’ queries.

NTA officials said there has also been a launch of an official WhatsApp public channel, which has garnered over 2.65 lakh subscribers within the first week, providing verified and timely updates. Besides, there is an ongoing effort to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled chatbots to address unstructured queries and provide instant assistance to candidates.

Special facilitation for candidates appearing at international centres, particularly in Kuwait, the UAE, and other regions impacted by ongoing conflict, with genuine requests for last-minute centre changes, is being considered sympathetically, subject to feasibility.

In view to the prevailing high temperatures, candidates are encouraged to stay well-hydrated and wear light, comfortable clothing, it added. Necessary arrangements for drinking water and shaded waiting areas have been ensured in coordination with centre superintendents and district administrations. Candidates have been advised to strictly adhere to the examination guidelines to facilitate smooth and orderly conduct of the examination.

Special arrangements have also been made to ensure a comfortable and stress-free experience for candidates like reliable power backup at all centres to ensure uninterrupted examination conditions, adequate drinking water facilities for all candidates, clean and functional sanitation facilities, including separate arrangements for female candidates, medical support and emergency response readiness at centres, advance city intimation to help candidates plan travel and logistics.

To ensure “Zero Leak, Zero Disruption, Zero Unfair Means,” a comprehensive multi-layered security framework has been implemented, which includes End-to-end secure question paper handling, from printing to post-exam logistics, GPS-tracked transportation with CAPF and Police escort, Double-lock strong rooms with 24×7 CCTV surveillance, Four-layer CCTV monitoring system across centres (~1.85 lakh cameras), Aadhaar-based biometric authentication (fingerprint + facial recognition) for candidates.

Two-layer frisking using hand-held metal detectors, deployment of signal jammers at sensitive centres and real-time monitoring through NTA Command Centre and district-level control rooms.

Interestingly, to avoid any logistical issues, including last-minute travel reservations in rail, air or other mode, this year a prior intimation of the city of centre of examination have been shared to the aspirants almost a fortnight ago and the exact venue will be shared in the next couple of days.

The conduct of NEET involves coordinated efforts across multiple agencies from the State Governments and Police, ensuring law & order, secure transit, and the centre security, District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police overseeing local preparedness, Activation of State-Level and District-Level Coordination Committees (SLCCs & DLCCs), Continuous intelligence monitoring and social media surveillance to detect any malpractice attempts.

“NTA is fully prepared for the smooth, secure, and fair conduct of NEET (UG) 2026, scheduled on Sunday across 551 cities and over 5,400 examination centres nationwide, covering approximately 22.8 lakh candidates. NTA reiterates its commitment to conducting NEET (UG) with the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and fairness, ensuring a level playing field for all candidates,” said Abhishek Singh, Director General, NTA, Government of India.

NEET (UG) remains one of the largest entrance examinations globally, conducted in a single day and single shift in pen-and-paper (OMR) mode, requiring meticulous planning and coordination at national, state, and district levels.

Ahead of the examinations, all centres have undergone rigorous third-party verification. Centres linked to coaching institutions or with inadequate infrastructure has been excluded while Government officials have been appointed as Centre Superintendents, Observers and City Coordinators. Live Dashboards and real-time monitoring systems are in place for oversight.
