NSUI stages Tiranga March at Delhi University

The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) on Friday organised a Tiranga March in Delhi University's North Campus, with hundreds of NSUI students and members participating in the event led by its national president Vinod Jakhar, organisers said.

The march began from the School of Open Learning (SOL) Gate and culminated at Ramjas Chowk, where participants carried the national flag and raised slogans celebrating the values of freedom, unity, democracy and the Constitution.

Addressing the gathering, Jakhar said universities are the foundation of a democratic society and students should have the freedom to express their views, question authority and participate in discussions without fear.

"Democracy cannot be limited to elections alone. It means giving every student the right to speak, participate and be heard," he said.

Jakhar said universities are not merely centres of education but spaces where young people learn about democracy, constitutional rights, equality and dissent.

He also stressed the need for dialogue and respect for differing opinions on university campuses, saying different ideas should be allowed to coexist and students should be able to raise genuine concerns without intimidation or suppression.

The march also focused on the importance of the Constitution and democratic values, with participants reaffirming their commitment to freedom, equality, fraternity, constitutionalism and democratic participation.
