Noida: Man dies after falling into rainwater-filled drain

A 28-year-old man died after reportedly falling into a rainwater-filled roadside drain in Sector 58, Noida, while he was on his way to work, police said on Friday.
The deceased, Aryan, was a resident of Choda village in Sector 22, Noida.
Police said the incident took place around 9 am on Thursday. Aryan was walking to a factory in Sector 58 during heavy waterlogging caused by continuous rain.
Preliminary investigation found that Aryan was walking on concrete slabs placed over a roadside drain while the road was flooded. One of the slabs was reportedly unstable, causing him to fall into the drain.
Police said Aryan’s friend Shivam and others pulled him out of the drain while he was unconscious. They tried to revive him with CPR, but he did not respond. He was taken to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police said legal proceedings are in progress and the circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
The incident is part of a series of rain-related accidents in Gautam Buddh Nagar district. Recent heavy rainfall has caused waterlogging and traffic congestion in Noida. On Friday, flooding at a private construction site in Sector 73, Noida, damaged a drain and caused a wall to collapse. No injuries were reported. Locals said the incident led to the closure of the nearby service road.g service road.
Earlier this week, a 10-year-old boy fell into an open maintenance hole in the Chi-Phi area of Greater Noida while walking with his mother.
