Woman allegedly assaulted in Telangana’s Narayanpet, attackers mutilate her

A woman was allegedly raped and brutally assaulted by two unidentified men while she was sleeping with her 12-year-old son near the Government Junior College in Makthal, Telangana’s Narayanpet district, in the early hours of Thursday, according to local reports.

The woman, who reportedly survives by seeking alms, had been staying in the area with her son for several years. According to local accounts, the mother and son used to take shelter near the Government Junior College building at night.

Reports said the two unidentified men approached the woman and her son while they were asleep. When the woman raised an alarm, her son woke up and attempted to intervene. The attackers allegedly assaulted the boy, following which he fled the spot in fear.

The men then allegedly sexually assaulted the woman and severely injured her. A Telugu-language report alleged that her private parts were also mutilated after the assault. That specific detail has not been independently confirmed by a police statement available publicly.

The woman was later found unconscious and lying in a pool of blood near the mini-stadium grounds by morning walkers, who alerted the police. Police reached the spot and shifted her to the Makthal Government Hospital for treatment.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify and trace the accused. The circumstances of the assault and the sequence of events are being investigated.

The incident has also raised concerns among local residents about the safety of women and homeless people in the area. Residents have alleged that anti-social activities are common around the Government Junior College and mini-stadium after dark, with people allegedly consuming alcohol and moving around the area at night.

As of the latest reports, the accused remain unidentified and a search is underway.
