Man arrested for allegedly abusing Police personnel; Nampally

Nampally police arrested 28-year-old Mohd. Rizwan on Tuesday, September 8, for allegedly obstructing and abusing traffic police personnel during a vehicle-checking drive at Taj Island Junction a day earlier.

According to police, Home Guard K. Ravinder of the Abids Traffic Police Station was conducting checks along with WASI Vani Sree and Home Guard Vijay Kumar around 3.30 pm on Monday, September 7, when he photographed a two-wheeler allegedly being ridden without a helmet.

Police said Rizwan, who works as a signboard worker, allegedly took a U-turn and approached Ravinder from the wrong side before abusing and assaulting him while he was performing his duty. His wife allegedly joined the confrontation and recorded the incident on her mobile phone.

The couple allegedly obstructed the police personnel before leaving the spot on the same vehicle. Nampally police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act. Rizwan was subsequently arrested, and the two-wheeler was seized.
