Mumbai BMW Crash: Sole survivor booked after 2 killed in 251 kmph highway horror

In a tragic high-speed accident on the under-construction Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Badlapur, Maharashtra, 2 people were killed after a BMW reportedly travelling at nearly 251 kmph crashed into a divider, leaving the sole survivor critically injured and now facing legal action.
Police have registered an FIR against Angad Gill, the driver of the BMW Z-series convertible, who is currently in a coma at a private hospital. Authorities said he was prima facie behind the wheel when the accident occurred during a late-night outing that was part of a birthday celebration.
According to investigators, the car lost control at extremely high speed before colliding with the divider, with the impact so severe that the vehicle was completely mangled and its engine thrown several metres away from the crash site. Two passengers, identified as colleagues of the driver, died on the spot.
Preliminary findings suggest charges of rash and negligent driving and culpable homicide not amounting to murder have been invoked, with police also examining whether alcohol or other factors contributed to the crash.
The stretch of road where the accident occurred is reportedly under construction and has seen multiple incidents of overspeeding and unsafe usage, prompting fresh scrutiny over highway safety and enforcement.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and are collecting technical evidence, including CCTV footage and forensic reports, to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the fatal crash.
