19-year-old labourer kills teenage wife, dies by suicide after domestic dispute in Mumbai

A 19-year-old daily-wage labourer allegedly killed his teenage wife before dying by suicide following a domestic dispute in central Mumbai’s Agripada in the early hours of Friday, police said.
The incident took place around 5 am near Kalapani Chowki, within the jurisdiction of Agripada police station, an official said.
Mohammad Ehsan Sheikh allegedly got into an argument with his wife, Jannat, during which he slit her throat before turning the weapon on himself, the official said.
Police were alerted following the incident and rushed Sheikh to the nearby civic-run Nair Hospital, where he died during treatment.
“The deceased couple were daily-wage labourers. A preliminary investigation has found that a domestic dispute led to the incident,” the official said.
Police are in the process of registering a murder case and an accidental death report in connection with the incident.
Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances leading to the deaths.
