Militants kill 4 customs officials in northwest Pakistan

At least four customs officials were killed on Tuesday when militants opened fire on them in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, officials said.

The officials were on duty in Dera Ismail Khan district, which borders South Waziristan, when the attack took place.

All four were killed in the shooting and their bodies were taken to a hospital's trauma centre, officials said.

Police reached the scene, collected evidence and launched an investigation into the attack.

Officials said attacks were reported at three separate locations in Dera Ismail Khan, with customs officials, revenue board personnel and traffic police personnel among those targeted.

The attackers fled the scenes after the shootings, officials said.
