Mallikarjun Kharge takes oath as Rajya Sabha member

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge took oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha after being re-elected from Karnataka, marking the beginning of his second consecutive term in the Upper House.

The oath was administered by Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan in his chamber at Parliament House. Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were present during the ceremony.

Congratulating Kharge, Radhakrishnan expressed confidence that his extensive parliamentary experience would continue to benefit the House. Union Health Minister and Leader of the House J.P. Nadda, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh also attended the oath-taking ceremony.

Kharge was re-elected to the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka earlier this month and continues to serve as the Leader of Opposition in the Upper House. A veteran parliamentarian, he remains one of the Congress party's senior-most leaders and plays a key role in shaping the Opposition's strategy in Parliament.
