Maharashtra TET Paper Leak: Mastermind and aide arrested in Bihar, 14 held

The alleged mastermind of the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026 paper leak case and his associate have been arrested from Bihar, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 14, police said on Saturday.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested alleged kingpin Vijayendrakumar Gupta alias Bijendra Kumar Gupta and his associate Indrajit Singh from Bihar on Friday, Thane Deputy Commissioner of Police Pawan Bansode said.

The two accused were brought to Pune and then taken to Bhiwandi, where they will be produced before a court for police remand and custodial interrogation.

According to police, Gupta had been under surveillance for several weeks after being identified as the alleged chief coordinator of an inter-state paper leak network.

The paper leak came to light on June 27 when Bhiwandi police, acting on confidential information, raided a location and seized unauthorised question papers. Verification by Maharashtra State Council of Examination officials confirmed that the papers matched the actual question paper prepared for the TET scheduled for June 28 at 1,028 examination centres.

The Maharashtra government subsequently postponed the TET 2026 examination, registered an FIR at Bhiwandi police station and formed an SIT to investigate the case.

The other accused arrested so far include Gupta's wife Suman Kumari Gupta and employees of a private printing press in Agra, among others.
