Large cache of arms, ammunition recovered in Manipur's Imphal East

A large cache of arms and ammunition were recovered in Manipur's Imphal East district, police said on Monday.
Acting on a tip-off about the movement of armed men in the Wakha Ching area, teams of the Special Commando Unit and the 6th India Reserve Battalion (IRB) launched a search operation around 6.15 p.m. on Saturday, they said.
During an extensive search of the forested area at Wakha Hill, the security personnel recovered four suspicious plastic bags containing 29 firearms along with magazines, they said.
The seized weapons included five self-loading rifles (SLRs), four INSAS rifles, two AK Ghatak rifles, one INSAS light machine gun (LMG), six .303 rifles, three double-barrel breech-loading (DBBL) guns and seven single-barrel breech-loading (SBBL) guns, police said.
The security forces also recovered 530 rounds of .303 ammunition and other live cartridges, they added.
