L&T wins mega order for India's largest AI cluster

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said Thursday, August 13, it has won an order worth between Rs 10,000 crore and Rs 15,000 crore to build the country's largest single-cluster artificial intelligence infrastructure facility, marking the infrastructure major's entry into the AI Factory business.

L&T will build an NVIDIA B300-based AI Factory at its Chennai data centre campus through its AI infrastructure arm, LTN Compute, and its AI and data centre business, Vyoma.AI, to power the AI-native cloud platform of US-based Together AI, the company said in a statement.

The facility will support large-scale inference, fine-tuning and training workloads, strengthening India's AI infrastructure ecosystem while backing global innovation, L&T said. The company did not disclose the exact order value, but its "mega order" classification covers the Rs 10,000-15,000 crore range.

The integrated AI Factory will house 10,000 NVIDIA B300 GPUs at Vyoma's Chennai data centre campus, which has been conceived as a gigawatt-scale AI infrastructure site.

Its first phase will have a capacity of 250 MW and power infrastructure readiness of 150 MVA, laying the groundwork for further expansion, according to the statement.

The platform integrates hyperscale data centre infrastructure, accelerated computing, high-performance networking, ultra-low-latency interconnects, high-throughput parallel storage and AI infrastructure operations, allowing customers to deploy and scale AI workloads through a unified infrastructure stack, L&T said.

L&T Chairman and Managing Director S.N. Subrahmanyan said artificial intelligence was becoming foundational to every industry and that AI Factories would power that transformation.

He called the Together AI deployment a milestone in L&T's Gigawatt AI Infrastructure Mission and said it reinforced the company's commitment to making India a global hub for next-generation AI infrastructure.

LTN Compute, a Vyoma.AI subsidiary, is building AI-ready digital infrastructure nationwide through hyperscale AI data centres, sovereign cloud platforms, AI Factory services, GPU-as-a-service offerings and managed AI platforms for governments, enterprises, cloud providers and AI developers.

Together AI co-founder and CEO Vipul Ved Prakash said making AI globally accessible would be the biggest infrastructure build-out in human history, and that L&T understood this.
