Korean sci-fi thriller 'Hope' to release in India on October 23

Korean filmmaker Na Hong-jin's sci-fi thriller "Hope", which premiered in the main competition at the Cannes Film Festival this year, will hit Indian theatres on October 23.

The film was originally scheduled for release in September but was postponed to complete the certification process. Its English version has now been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) without cuts, while certification for the Hindi, Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions is underway.

Set in a remote port town, "Hope" follows a village police chief and his rookie deputy as they try to protect their community from a mysterious creature after wildfires cut off all communication. Meanwhile, a local hunting party finds itself being hunted deep in the mountains.

Na Hong-jin, known for films such as "The Chaser", "The Yellow Sea" and "The Wailing", has directed the thriller.

"Hope" features an ensemble cast led by Hwang Jung-min, known for "Ode to My Father", Zo In-sung of "Moving" and "It's Okay, That's Love", and "Squid Game" star Jung Ho-yeon.

Hollywood actors Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander and Taylor Kitsch also feature in the film.

The movie's international rollout will continue through November, with releases planned across several markets.

"Hope" is opening in the UK, Sweden, Switzerland and Ireland this week, followed by Argentina, Germany, France and Spain in October, among other territories.

Presented by Plus M Entertainment, the film is produced by Forged Films in co-production with Plus M Entertainment and Westworld. Star Entertainment Pvt Ltd is distributing the film in India.
