Kejriwal claims Centre plans ethanol blending in diesel, ATF; urges people to delay vehicle purchases

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday alleged that the Centre plans to introduce ethanol blending in diesel and aviation turbine fuel (ATF), urging people to avoid buying new petrol or diesel vehicles for the next few years.

In a post on X, Kejriwal claimed the government would increase ethanol blending in petrol beyond the current E20 level and eventually extend the policy to diesel. He alleged that motorists purchasing new E20-compatible vehicles could later be forced to use higher ethanol blends, which he claimed could damage engines.

Kejriwal also alleged that the Centre was planning to blend ethanol in ATF, claiming such a move could compromise flight safety. He did not provide evidence to support the claim.

Earlier this month, he wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing concerns over the rollout of E20 petrol. He sought the continued availability of pure petrol alongside E20 fuel at filling stations and called for lower prices for ethanol-blended petrol.
