Kanwar pilgrim killed, brother injured after truck hits three in Rajasthan's Ajmer

An 18-year-old Kanwar pilgrim was killed and his younger brother sustained serious injuries after a truck allegedly rammed into three pilgrims near the Gegal police station area in Rajasthan's Ajmer district on Wednesday, August 5, police said, as reported by PTI.

The victims were returning to Kishangarh after collecting holy water from Pushkar when the accident occurred.

Police identified the deceased as Shubham (18), a resident of Kishangarh, who died on the spot. His younger brother, Pradeep, suffered serious injuries and was admitted to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital in Ajmer, where he is undergoing treatment.

According to police, the truck driver allegedly attempted to flee after the accident but was caught by local residents, who reportedly assaulted him.

Police personnel reached the spot, rescued the driver from the crowd and took him into custody. Traffic on the route was later restored.

The body of the deceased has been sent to a mortuary for postmortem, police said.
