Jaipur cracks down on Coaching Centres after Lucknow blaze, 14 facilities sealed

The Jaipur administration has launched a major enforcement drive against coaching institutes and libraries following the deadly fire incident in Lucknow that claimed 15 lives, sealing 14 establishments and issuing notices to more than two dozen others for fire safety violations.

Municipal corporation and police teams conducted city-wide inspections on Tuesday, checking compliance with fire safety norms, including availability of firefighting equipment, functional emergency exits and valid fire No Objection Certificates (NOCs).

Chief Fire Officer Devendra Meena said that since June 4, around 600 establishments in the Heritage area have been inspected and issued notices for non-compliance, including nearly 150 coaching institutes and libraries.

Officials said several institutes were found lacking basic fire safety arrangements, prompting immediate sealing action. Over 24 coaching centres have also been served notices for failing to meet mandatory safety standards.

The drive was intensified after the Lucknow coaching centre fire incident, with authorities stressing the need for strict adherence to safety protocols due to the large number of students attending such institutes.

Further inspections are underway, and officials have indicated that more action may follow if violations continue.
