J-K CM Omar Abdullah announces Rs 10 lakh each for kin of 2 migrant labourers killed in Kulgam attack

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday, 1 August announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs 10 lakh each for the families of two migrant labourers from Chhattisgarh who were killed in a terror attack in Kulgam district.

The assistance from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund will be in addition to Rs 6 lakh each announced by the district administration, the chief minister's office (CMO) said.

Abdullah condemned the killing and expressed grief over the loss of the two lives.

"He announced an ex gratia relief of Rs 10 lakh each from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the next of kin of the deceased," the CMO said in a post on X.

The chief minister also conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and said the government stood firmly with them.

Deepak Ratray and Bopinder, both in their 20s, were killed in a terror attack at a brick kiln in the Kelam area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district on Friday evening.

Ratray died before he could be taken to a hospital, while Bopinder was taken to GMC Anantnag and later referred to SKIMS Hospital in Soura, where he died during treatment.
