Railways cancel several trains to Delhi ahead of October 10 CJP protest

The Indian Railways has cancelled several Mail and Express trains scheduled to arrive at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations between 4 am and 2 pm on October 10, citing anticipated heavy road traffic congestion around the two stations, media organisations reported.
The decision comes ahead of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest scheduled for October 10. Citing Railway Board sources, the channel reported that the cancellations were ordered to prevent inconvenience to the public.
The order applies to Mail and Express trains departing from their originating stations after 2 pm on Friday, October 9, and scheduled to reach either New Delhi or Hazrat Nizamuddin between 4 am and 2 pm on Saturday. The affected trains will be cancelled at their originating stations.
Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) also announced the cancellations through posts on their official X accounts.
On October 9, the DRM of Sealdah division of Eastern Railway announced the cancellation of the Sealdah–New Delhi Rajdhani Express (Train No. 12313), scheduled to depart on Friday.
"Due to anticipated heavy road traffic congestion around New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Stations on 10 October 2026, Train No. 12313 Sealdah–New Delhi Rajdhani Express, scheduled for 09 October 2026, has been cancelled," the post said, urging passengers to take note of the change and plan their journeys accordingly. The railway authority also expressed regret over the inconvenience.
The DRM of Mumbai division of Central Railway also issued an update announcing the cancellation of the CSMT–Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express (Train No. 22221).
Meanwhile, IANS quoted railway sources as saying that around 5,000 passengers missed their trains on Thursday following the protest and traffic congestion in and around New Delhi after noon.
"Several passengers could not reach railway stations on time, while IRCTC group bookings were also cancelled. The protest and traffic disruptions caused significant inconvenience to passengers," the agency quoted the sources as saying.
