India summons Iranian Diplomats after Indian sailor killed in Hormuz strike

India has summoned senior Iranian diplomats, including Iran's Deputy Chief of Mission, to lodge a strong protest after an Indian sailor was killed in a missile strike on two UAE-flagged oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed deep concern over the attack, which also left several Indian crew members injured, and sought an explanation from the Iranian side over the incident.

According to government sources, the MEA conveyed India's serious concern over the safety of Indian nationals working aboard commercial vessels in the conflict-hit region. Officials urged Iran to ensure the security of civilian shipping and prevent further attacks that could endanger innocent lives.

The Indian government also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting its citizens and maintaining the safety of key international maritime routes. The diplomatic protest follows the latest escalation in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's busiest oil shipping lanes.

The attack has heightened regional tensions and raised concerns over global energy supplies and maritime security. India continues to closely monitor the situation while coordinating with relevant authorities to assist affected Indian seafarers and ensure their safe return.
