India rally from two sets down to beat Qatar, reach Asian Games volleyball quarterfinals

India fought back from two sets down to beat Qatar 3-2 and seal a place in the men's volleyball quarterfinals at the Asian Games here on Tuesday.

India prevailed 26-28, 25-27, 25-23, 25-20, 24-22 in a marathon Pool C contest that lasted two hours and 47 minutes, registering its third straight victory in the competition.

The four quarterfinals will be played on Thursday.

India had opened its campaign with a 3-0 win over Vietnam, 25-23, 25-21, 25-20, before defeating Hong Kong China by the same scoreline, 25-22, 25-19, 25-21.

Jerome Vinith led India's scoring against Qatar with 27 points, all from spikes.

Amit Singh Balwan contributed 24 points, including 22 from spikes and two from blocks, while Joel Benjamin Jebaraj also crossed the 10-point mark with 17 points — 14 from spikes, two from blocks and one service point.
