‘I See You’ photo exhibition gets viewers’ thumbs up

The Polish Institute in New Delhi and Anant Art present a compelling solo exhibition by acclaimed cinematographer Artur Zurawski, celebrating the often-invisible communities behind cinematic productions. Opening on August 21 and running through August 29 at Anant Art in Safdarjung Enclave, “I See You” showcases black-and-white photographs capturing directors, actors, crew members and collaborators from film sets across multiple countries. Zurawski, a Warsaw-based visual artist and graduate of Poland’s renowned National Film School in Lodz, has forged a distinctive career spanning feature films, documentaries and international co-productions. His cinematography credits include notable Indian films such as Mardaani (2014), Sultan (2016) and Bhoomi (2017), alongside acclaimed works including Idz pod prad (2024), which earned him the Golden Lion at the Polish Film Festival.
The exhibition offers a philosophical exploration of filmmaking’s collaborative nature. Through carefully composed monochrome portraits, Zurawski captures moments of genuine human connection between individuals whose lives briefly intersect during production. Each photograph represents an act of recognition, acknowledging the presence and individuality of people whose contributions often remain invisible once filming concludes.
“The photographs remind us that cinema is not created by stars alone,” explains Malgorzata Wejsis-Golebiak, Director of the Polish Institute, highlighting how the exhibition strengthens cultural dialogue between Poland and India through a universal artistic language.
