Hyderabad traffic police face criticism after Zepto delivery partner pleads over seized bike

A video of a Zepto delivery partner pleading with traffic police after his motorcycle was taken away has sparked a debate on social media over how the situation was handled.

The incident reportedly occurred in Hyderabad on Friday. In the video, the delivery worker can be seen trying to explain to traffic police that he was on his way to complete an order and requested them to allow him to complete the delivery before taking action.

“Please, sir, I will deliver the order and leave. My wife is in the hospital,” he is heard saying in the video.

The motorcycle was reportedly taken into custody after traffic police found it parked along the roadside. The officials involved in towing the vehicle allegedly told the delivery partner that he would have to go to the police station to collect his motorcycle.

The footage shows the worker following the towing vehicle and trying to stop it. He repeatedly appeals to the police personnel while attempting to explain his situation. At one point, a police official opens the door of the towing vehicle and appears to push the delivery partner away as the vehicle moves forward.

After the video surfaced online, several social media users questioned the way the incident was dealt with. Many said the officials could have shown greater sensitivity after the delivery worker told them that his wife was in hospital.

Some users also criticised the alleged behaviour of the police personnel and said the circumstances of the delivery worker appeared to have been ignored. Others raised questions about whether the enforcement action could have been handled differently so that the worker's income was not affected.
