Gujarat woman Meghnaben Patel shot dead in US Virginia Supermarket; CCTV reveals attack

A 45-year-old woman from Gujarat, Meghnaben Patel, was shot dead in a shocking incident during a suspected robbery attempt at a supermarket in Virginia, United States.

According to reports, CCTV footage captured a man entering a nearly empty store and approaching the counter where Meghnaben Patel had been working for the past 10 years. The video shows the suspect briefly speaking with her before suddenly pulling out a gun and opening fire.

The attacker then climbed over the counter and continued shooting before fleeing the store, leaving the victim critically injured. The entire incident was recorded on surveillance cameras installed inside the supermarket.

Meghnaben Patel, originally from Jantral village in Mehsana district, Gujarat, was identified by her family following the incident. She had been living and working in the United States for over a decade.

Police in Virginia have launched a manhunt for the suspect and cordoned off the area as part of the investigation. Special teams have been deployed to trace and arrest the attacker.

Her family members in Gujarat, including her elderly parents, were informed after the incident. She is survived by her husband and two children.

Authorities are treating the case as a suspected robbery-related shooting, though investigations are still underway to determine the exact motive.
