Govt forms 13 district committees to monitor monsoon waterlogging

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Tuesday that the Delhi Government has constituted District-Level Coordination Committees in all 13 districts of the capital to monitor and prevent waterlogging during and after the monsoon.

Each committee will be chaired by the District Magistrate of the respective district and comprise officials from the MCD, Irrigation and Flood Control Department, PWD, Delhi Jal Board, DDA, Delhi Police traffic wing, and local power distribution companies. The order constituting the committees was issued by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Irrigation and Flood Control Department.

The composition of each District-Level Coordination Committee includes the Deputy Commissioner of the concerned municipal corporation, the Executive Engineers of the Irrigation and Flood Control Department, PWD, and the concerned MCD, NDMC, or Delhi Cantonment Board, the Executive Engineers of the Delhi Jal Board and DDA, and the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police for Traffic of the concerned district. Representatives of the district’s power distribution companies, BSES and TPDDL, will be members.

The Additional District Magistrate of the respective district will serve as Member Secretary. The committees will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and monitoring of district-level monsoon preparedness measures, ensuring compliance with the Standard Operating Procedures prepared by the State-Level Coordination Committee.
