Government refutes claims of UPSC Civil Services Prelims 2026 paper leak, calls viral posts fake

The government has dismissed social media claims suggesting that the question paper for the UPSC Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2026 was leaked, calling the reports completely false and misleading.

The clarification was issued by the Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check Unit after several posts circulated online alleging that the prestigious examination’s question paper had been compromised ahead of the test.

In its statement, the PIB Fact Check Unit categorically termed the claims as fake and urged aspirants and the public not to believe or share unverified information. The agency emphasized that the examination process follows stringent security protocols to ensure fairness and integrity.

The government further noted that UPSC examination papers are prepared by subject experts selected from different parts of the country through a highly confidential process. The paper-setting mechanism is designed to maintain the highest standards of security and transparency.

Authorities have advised candidates to rely only on official notifications and updates issued by the Union Public Service Commission and other government channels. They also warned against spreading misinformation that could create unnecessary anxiety among aspirants.

The clarification comes amid heightened vigilance over competitive examinations, with authorities increasingly monitoring social media platforms to counter fake news and misleading claims related to recruitment and entrance tests.

Officials reiterated that no evidence of any leak has been found and that the viral posts circulating online are baseless. Candidates have been encouraged to focus on official information and avoid forwarding unverified content.
