Ghaziabad man kills wife, daughter over marital dispute, younger daughter escapes

A man allegedly attacked his family with a knife at their residence here, stabbing his wife and elder daughter to death, while the younger managed to escape, police said on Sunday.

A case has been registered in this connection and the accused has been arrested, they added.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly told police that there were frequent quarrels between the couple over trivial matters. Enraged by this, he had allegedly made up his mind to murder his wife and daughters and go to jail.

According to police, the incident took place late Saturday at Lokpriya Vihar under Khoda police station area, where 43-year-old Mohammad Raja Ansari repeatedly stabbed his wife Baby Tabassum (41), and daughter Sana (15), inflicting severe injuries.

He also attacked his younger daughter Ruby alias Zoya (14). However, the girl managed to escape the house and raised an alarm.

Alerted by the screams, neighbours rushed to the scene. They caught the accused and handed him over to police.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Indirapuram) Suryabali Maurya said Khoda police station received information regarding the murder of a woman and her daughter in Lokpriya Vihar area, and a police team was rushed to the scene.

According to preliminary inquiry, Raja Ansari -- originally from Bihar's Araria district -- lived on the fourth floor of a building with his wife and two daughters.

Around 12.30 am on August 22, while his wife was asleep, the accused allegedly produced a knife he had hidden under the mattress and stabbed her in the neck.

Hearing the commotion, both daughters rushed into the room while the accused kept stabbing his wife.

Terrified, the elder daughter Sana ran and hid in a corner of the balcony, but the accused caught her and stabbed her in the neck.

According to police, the wife and elder daughter died at the spot due to severe blood loss, while the younger daughter too sustained injuries. She was shifted to a hospital and her condition is said to be stable.

Police initially detained the accused and interrogated him. Based on his disclosure, police recovered the knife used in the crime.

During interrogation, the accused told police he has worked as a clerk at a shop in Delhi's Ghazipur fish market since 2002, earning around Rs 34,000 per month.

He claimed he had frequent quarrels with his wife over petty issues. Vexed by this, he had allegedly resolved to murder his wife and daughters and go to jail.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and further investigation is underway, police said.
