Father, 17-year-old son electrocuted to death while removing tree branch in UP's Sitapur

Sitapur (UP), Sep 6 (PTI) A 17-year-old boy and his father were electrocuted to death while trying to remove a tree branch that had come into contact with a low-tension power line in the Sakran area here on Sunday, police said.

Police said the incident occurred in Basiyah village when Piyush was removing the branch after it broke and came into contact with the power line.

When Piyush was electrocuted, his father Geetesh rushed to help him but also came in contact with the live wire and suffered an electric shock, they said.

Villagers informed the electricity department, following which the power supply was disconnected. The duo was taken to the Community Health Centre in Sakran, where doctors declared them dead.

Their bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and a case has been registered, police said.
