DU Students’ Union elections 2026: NSUI, ABVP and AISA step up campus campaigns

Student organisations have intensified their outreach across Delhi University colleges ahead of the DU Students’ Union elections, with candidates approaching freshers and seeking suggestions for issues to be included in their election manifestos.

The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has been visiting colleges and raising issues faced by students, including campus infrastructure, Wi-Fi facilities, regular classes and canteen food.

An NSUI member said the organisation is repeating its “My Campus, My Manifesto” initiative this year. The campaign was also used by Rahul Jhansla during his successful campaign for the Vice-President’s post in 2025 and seeks suggestions directly from students.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has also stepped up its engagement with freshers through one-to-one meetings, according to a member of the organisation.

Under its “My DU, My Manifesto” campaign, ABVP is collecting suggestions from students and plans to incorporate their concerns into its election manifesto.

The All India Students’ Association (AISA) is similarly reaching out to first-year students, saying it wants to familiarise them with what it describes as a “progressive political culture” on campus.

The organisation is focusing on issues related to the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) and the National Education Policy (NEP).

An AISA activist said students in their second and third years have been particularly affected by the NEP and FYUP, making these key campaign issues. The group is also prioritising outreach to freshers.

On a possible alliance between the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and AISA, the activist described it as a “joint fight”.

Campaigning is expected to intensify in the run-up to the DU Students’ Union elections, with student groups seeking to consolidate support among newly admitted students.

The elections are scheduled for September 18, with results expected to be announced on September 19.
