Drone shot down over Akhnoor, along LoC

On Friday afternoon, a suspected Pakistani drone was shot down by the Indian troops along the Line of Control in the Khour area of Akhnoor sector in Jammu.

The drone was seen hovering over one of the vital security installations when the troops brought it down near Chakla village of Khour, Akhnoor. After recovering the drone, the troops handed it over to the forensic teams for a thorough investigation. According to preliminary investigations, the forensic teams have so far recovered a 64 GB SD card and are scanning the images possibly transferred by the drone camera to its handler operating it from across the Line of Control. The police teams have also heightened the vigil in the area to search whether any payload was air-dropped by the drone before it was brought down.

The police teams have kept some of the overground workers under observation as part of ongoing investigations in the matter.

With the situation remaining volatile in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), the troops deployed along the International Border (IB) and the LoC in the frontier districts continue to maintain a tight vigil to prevent any misadventure at the behest of terrorist handlers.

At the same time, frequent incidents of drone incursions and infiltration bids have been attempted, facilitated by the Pakistani troops to divert the attention of the foot soldiers on the ground.

Official sources claimed that since June 2026, around one dozen incidents of drone incursions and infiltration bids have been reported across the Jammu region.
