Woman's headless body found in Dhanbad forest, boyfriend detained

The headless body of a woman was found in a forested area of Kherbadi in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district on Friday, police said.

Her severed head was later recovered from a plastic sack in Dhangi village, near a field located around 100 metres from where the body was found, police said.

Baliapur police station officer-in-charge Satyajit Kumar said pieces of red cloth and incense sticks were also found near the body. The woman's head had blood smeared on it.

The deceased was identified as Punam Kumari, a native of neighbouring Giridih district.

Police have detained Punam's boyfriend from Giridih in connection with the case.

Kumar said the body had been sent for post-mortem examination and that police were investigating all aspects of the case.  (with inputs from PTI)
