Delhi court rejects CJP legal head Ratna Singh's plea seeking FIR against police

A Delhi court on Saturday dismissed a plea filed by Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) legal head Ratna Singh seeking registration of an FIR against police personnel who allegedly detained her and prevented her from attending a protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Abhinav Pandey of the Saket court passed the order. A detailed copy of the order is awaited.

The CJP had called for a protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday, October 10, seeking Kumar's resignation.

Singh was among those detained by police ahead of the demonstration. The party alleged that she and three other lawyers were detained without being informed of the grounds for the action.

In a video shared by the CJP, Singh alleged that police personnel visited her residence in the morning and later surrounded her car.

She claimed that when she asked whether they had any official notice, the personnel told her they had received “orders from above”.
