Congress launches nationwide campaign against paper leaks

The Congress on Thursday announced a 40-day nationwide “Chhatron Ki Goonj” campaign, to press for reforms in the examination system and highlight issues of paper leaks, examination irregularities and unemployment.

Addressing a press conference, Congress Working Committee member Rajeev Shukla, Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and Chandigarh Congress president HS Lucky said the campaign would begin on June 30 and continue till August 9.

The leaders informed that the campaign would be carried out across coaching centres, universities, hostels, libraries and other public places to engage with students and raise awareness about examination-related issues.

They alleged that repeated paper leaks and controversies surrounding competitive examinations and recruitment tests had shaken public confidence and affected millions of students and job aspirants across the country.

The Congress leaders noted that the campaign would focus on the alleged irregularities in national-level examinations, particularly the NEET-UG 2026 controversy, which they claimed exposed serious shortcomings in the examination system.

They also claimed that paper leaks had become an organised racket involving different stages of the examination process, including question paper preparation, printing, transportation and examination centres. The party demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and called for an independent investigation into the alleged paper leak networks and their links with officials, contractors and other entities.

They accused the Centre of failing to prevent repeated examination scandals and said the issue affected not only students but also unemployed youth waiting for recruitment processes to be completed.

According to the Congress, grassroots activities under the campaign will include pamphlet distribution, corner meetings and direct outreach to students.

In July, the party will organise campus interactions and “Ambedkar Samvaad” programmes.

The campaign will conclude with demonstrations at collectorates across 28 cities on August 1 and a “Sansad Gherao” in New Delhi on August 9 to press for action on students’ concerns, the Congress leaders said.
