Case registered against Sunny M Kapikkad over Sabarimala remarks, says Ramesh Chennithala

Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said on Friday that police have registered a case against Dalit activist Sunny M Kapikkad over his alleged derogatory remarks about Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa and Goddess Malikappurathamma. Chennithala was responding to questions from reporters about why no action had been taken against Kapikkad. "A case has already been registered," he said.
Kapikkad allegedly made sexually derogatory remarks about Lord Ayyappa and Goddess Malikappurathamma during a recent programme held at an educational institution.
On Thursday, BJP leaders, Sabarimala-related voluntary organisations and activist Rahul Easwar approached the police with complaints seeking action against Kapikkad.
The BJP leaders also called on the chief minister to review the complete video of Kapikkad's alleged remarks along with their context and take appropriate legal action. (with inputs from PTI)
