Terrorist killed in joint Army, J&K Police operation in Budgam forest

One terrorist was killed on Friday during a joint operation by the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF in a forest area of Budgam district, officials said.
The operation was launched following intelligence inputs about the movement of a suspected group of terrorists from Pakherpora in Pulwama district towards Yousmarg in Budgam, they said.
The Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said on X that a joint search operation was launched in Ashdar Gali based on specific intelligence inputs.
“Vigilant troops observed suspicious activity and upon being challenged, terrorists opened fire, prompting a fierce exchange of gunfire during which one terrorist was neutralised and one AK rifle was recovered,” the Chinar Corps said.
The search operation was continuing as security forces looked for another suspected terrorist believed to be hiding in the area.
The identity of the slain terrorist has not yet been ascertained.
The encounter comes after a lull of several months in the Kashmir Valley.
Further details are awaited as the operation continues.
