BRS Accuses Congress of Altering Land Records for Revanth Reddy's Brother in Abdullapurmet

BRS leader T. Harish Rao on Friday, September 11, alleged that district collectors across Telangana were pressured into preparing and submitting lists of land for inclusion under Section 22A of the Registration Act, and demanded Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy's resignation if the claims are proven true.

Rao made the allegations during a BRS presentation on the 22A land list controversy at Telangana Bhavan, where he laid out what he said was a documented trail showing the government's role in expanding the prohibited-lands list. According to Rao, the state issued an order on September 11, 2025, seeking a fresh list of prohibited lands, following which the Jangaon collector prepared and forwarded a list to the Inspector General of Stamps and Registration on November 20, 2025. He alleged that the lands identified in that list were subsequently added to the 22A prohibited list, and claimed similar exercises were carried out by collectors across the state.

Citing specific examples, Rao alleged that around 30,000 acres in the Sirpur and Kagaznagar areas were added to the prohibited list in October 2025, and that roughly 11,000 houses in the Mancherial constituency were also placed on the list. He questioned whether collectors in all 33 districts had prepared similar lists under government direction, and said BRS had compiled district-wise collector data to back its claims.

Rao's press conference adds to the ongoing political confrontation between BRS and the Congress government over the Section 22A prohibited-lands issue, which has already seen thousands of private landowners across the state unable to register or sell their properties after their land was flagged under the provision.
