Ankit Baliyan murder : Police say major clues found, killers to be arrested soon

Police have gathered several clues in the murder of Haryana singer and YouTuber Ankit Baliyan and are confident of identifying and arresting those responsible soon, Meerut Zone Additional Director General of Police Bhanu Bhaskar said on Thursday.

Calling the case challenging, Bhaskar said multiple teams had been formed to investigate the killing, with four teams sent to Haryana as part of the probe.

“We have got several clues, but it would not be appropriate to make them public. The matter will be disclosed very soon,” Bhaskar told reporters.

He described the killing as a serious incident and said the police were working to crack the case at the earliest.

The road blockade staged by Baliyan's family and others following the murder has since been cleared, Bhaskar said, adding that the family was cooperating with investigators.

Baliyan was leaving a gym around 6:45 pm on Wednesday when four assailants travelling in two vehicles allegedly opened fire on him, police said. He was critically injured and taken to a community health centre, where doctors declared him dead.

The murder has also triggered a political row, with the Samajwadi Party and Congress criticising the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government over the law-and-order situation.
