Nara Lokesh lays foundation for Suzlon's Rs 10,500 cr wind projects

Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh on Tuesday, August 25 laid the foundation stone for Suzlon's 1,325 MW wind energy projects in Anantapur district, involving an investment of Rs 10,500 crore.

The projects are expected to generate 1,600 direct and indirect jobs, according to an official press release.

Lokesh also inaugurated Suzlon's expanded smart blade manufacturing facility in Anantapur, which has two additional production lines. The expansion is aimed at strengthening the state's renewable energy manufacturing ecosystem.

Lokesh said Andhra Pradesh was committed to building a world-class clean energy ecosystem to support the state's next phase of industrial and economic growth.

He described Suzlon's wind energy projects as an important milestone, reflecting growing confidence among renewable energy companies in the state's policies and investment ecosystem.

Long-standing partnerships, he said, would be crucial to accelerating renewable energy development, creating jobs, attracting investments and positioning Andhra Pradesh as a leading clean-energy hub in India.

The latest investment builds on Suzlon's more than two-decade association with Andhra Pradesh. The company has so far enabled investments worth Rs 15,500 crore in the state and is executing 1,600 MW of wind projects.

Suzlon's Anantapur manufacturing facility has an annual capacity of 1,260 MW and currently supports more than 1,200 direct and indirect green jobs.

The company is also providing skill development to 12,000 young people, including 3,000 women, through training centres in Uravakonda and Vijayawada.

The new projects come as Andhra Pradesh witnesses rapid industrial and technology-led growth. With the state emerging as a hub for industry, technology and artificial intelligence, demand for reliable and clean energy is expected to increase significantly, the release said.
