‘Not devotion, but civic sense’ : Allu Sirish flags late-night temple music in Hyderabad
Actor Allu Sirish has sought police intervention over loud music allegedly being played at a Hanuman temple in Vinobha Nagar until 2 or 3 am, saying the noise was disturbing residents of his housing society in Shaikpet.
Sirish, the younger brother of actor Allu Arjun, raised the issue on X on September 27, tagging Hyderabad City Police and saying he had already approached the Film Nagar Police Station.
“I’m a resident of Aparna One, Shaikpet. For the last few days the Hanuman temple at Vinobha Nagar is playing loud music, beyond allowed decibels till night 2/3am,” Sirish said in his post. He also shared a short video showing the noise he was referring to.
According to Sirish, residents had earlier been asked to tolerate the noise until September 25 because of Ganesh immersion festivities. He said the celebrations had ended but the loud music continued.
“Many elders, children and working ppl in our society are disturbed by it,” he said, adding that residents had made several complaints in the past.
The post drew mixed reactions online, with some users questioning his objection to music during religious celebrations.
Sirish later clarified that his complaint was about the timing and volume of the music, not religious worship.
“Friends.. I am religious myself and pray to Lord Hanuman. Blasting music with DJ setup at 2am is not Bhakti. What I complained is abt civic sense not devotion,” he said.
Hyderabad City Police responded to Sirish’s post, saying the matter had been shared with the Film Nagar SHO for necessary action. Sirish thanked the police for taking up the complaint.
Hyderabad Police notifications state that loudspeakers and public-address systems should not be used between 10 pm and 6 am, while the prescribed night-time noise limit for residential areas is 45 dB(A).
The complaint has since sparked discussion online over religious celebrations, noise regulations and the impact of late-night sound on residents in urban neighbourhoods.
